Alice Shaffer

Alice Eloise Shaffer, 62, passed peacefully on February 21, 2021, in Aberdeen, SD.  She was born May 19, 1958, in Hutchinson, the daughter of John and Alice Hirt. She had received her Bachelor's in Nursing and her Master’s in Education.
One of her great passions was teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade in both Independence and Manhattan, KS Public Schools. Alice was not one to shy away from adventure whether it be trips to the Gulf Shores with her sisters to road trips with her nieces and nephews to Alaska. Alice's home was a harbor to all who came to visit.

Alice loved being active both physically and in hunting for a good find at an antique store. Her sense of humor always was present in her laugh and smile at reading with her grandchildren or teasing her boys.

Her survivors include two sons, Grant and Gared Shaffer; five siblings, Marie, Laura, Virginia, David, and John; and grandchildren, Link, Emma, Dejah, Adalyn, and Lily.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Alice Hirt, and her brother Paul.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Inman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, March 4, 2021, at First Church of the Nazarene.
