Karen Jane Morland

September 25, 1942 — June 29, 2022

Karen Jane Morland, 79, died June 29, 2022, at her home in Hutchinson.  She was born September 25, 1942 in Wichita, the daughter of Woodrow and Lela Ahrendt Bird.  She was a graduate of Harper High School, Harper, KS.  Karen was well traveled.  She was the first woman foreman for Coleman and the first woman driver for Frito-Lay.  She had also worked for the IRS.  Most recently she was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service.
In the early 1960’s, Karen wrote for a romance magazine.  She was a member of Leadership Now, the Democratic Caucus, and was on the Library Board for Sedgwick County. 

She is survived by a son, Daryl Heath, Hutchinson; a daughter, Katrina Heath, Wichita; siblings, Woodrow Bird II, Valley Center, Lewis Bird, Roanoke, TX, and Christine Bower, Valley Center; and various nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
