Raymond Osborn, 93, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side.

Raymond Glenn Osborn was born December 4, 1931, at the home of his grandparents, George and Naomi Prene Mitchell, to Earnest David and Pearl Hazel Mitchell Osborn. He was one of six children, Betty, Mary Jane, Richard, Linda, and Anita. The location was a farm a few miles north of Augusta, Kansas. The family moved to Douglas, Kansas where his dad had a trucking business using a one-ton flatbed Model T truck. Due to the depression, the family moved where dad could find work. Raymond went to school at Augusta Grade School 1st through 5th grade, 6th grade at Plainview, Wichita, 7th grade at Moundridge, 8th grade at McPherson, and High School at Windom, Kansas.

After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served a tour of duty during the Korean War as a tail gunner on a B-29 crew. As a senior in high school, Raymond met the girl that took possession of his heart. He later married that girl, Marilyn Jeanne Knackstedt, while on leave from the Air Force on August 17, 1952, Jeanne and Raymond were happily married for 72 years. From that union they had three daughters, Melanie Loy, Joni Jeanne, and Starla Gayle and one son, Landis Ray, who passed away after several hours. They enjoyed family life together and spent many weekends camping and water skiing, with each member taking turns. Those were enjoyable times. Raymond gained knowledge in plumbing, electrical installation, and water well drilling. He also worked for 17 years at Cessna Fluid Power Products in the tool grinding department. He was self-employed for 25 years as the owner of Osborn Communications. As a Christian, Raymond was baptized and because a member of the Methodist Church, Windom. Later, he transferred membership to St. Peter’s E & R Church, Inman. That later became St. Peter’s United Church of Christ. Raymond served on church council on three different occasions. He loved attending Sunday school and church services. And yes, Jeanne still has possession of his heart.

Survivors include his wife of their home in Inman, three daughters, Melanie (Steve) Ediger, TX, Joni (Les) Richardson, Hutchinson, and Starla (Larry) McConnel, Liberal, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; and 3 siblings; Linda (Jim) Bethel, Colorado; Richard (Sonia) Osborn, Nebraska; and Anita Leach, McPherson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Landis, and two siblings, Betty Moher and Mary Jane Milam.
